Invitation to the Tao of Christ

In the Gospel of John, "John was standing with two of his disciples; and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said,

"Behold, the Lamb of God!"

When the two disciples heard him say this, they understood that John was saying, "Here is the enlightened one." So they followed Jesus. When Jesus saw them following him, he turned and said to them,

"What do you seek?"

And they said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" He said to them,

"Come and see." (John 1:35-39)

Faith must be active. Jesus told his disciples to "ask, seek and knock" if they would have eternal life, (learn where Jesus is staying). One way to understand asking, seeking and knocking is to realize that our discipleship may take one of three pathways; The Way of Knowledge, The Way of Action, The Way of Love. Usually we will find elements of all three pathways are present in our search, but different people will find one of these ways more suitable to their particular style and way of knowing.

The Way of Knowledge: Asking to be enlightened through study and self-discipline.

The Way of Action: Seeking to serve others in need through sacrificial love.

The Way of The Heart: Knocking at the door of God's heart through prayer, worship and adoration.
